Another great video guys! 😍

Great content as always
François Talbot
Being a native french speaker actually helped me guess pretty much half of these words correctly. Some of these false friends are exactly the same in my language: actuellement, compréhensif, cru, éventuellement, fastidieux, gentil, librairie, préservatif, sensible, sympathique...
G. Gratiela
Wow, I forgot how you two have a way to make my smile widen from ear to ear :D I missed Alan!!! His smile is contagious! I´m not even sorry for staring at your reaction and not paying so much attention to the words :))) just like Alan, I was focusing more of his face than the words :))) But good video, nonetheless

This video really confused me in a very funny way! I was used to hear about false friends in English for Italians and not the opposite. Very nice video Marco, as always!
Iriana Pa_Pa_Pa
Guys, I really love you! Thank God I am a fluent speaker of both the Italian and the English language and I already know the confusion between these Italian and English words. Many, many kisses from Greece! \n\nP.S. Marco, you look gorgeous in this video
James Johnstone
Is not pretendere also to claim, as in claim a throne? In archaic English we had the same sense, talking about the Young Pretender or the Old Pretender to the throne. Sometime the divergence of meaning happened late in history... Another great video guys! Complimenti!
Jorgelina
I love this type of videos ♥

Some of these I new and I don't speak Italian. I only assumed what they were because some words in Italian are very similar to Spanish words xD Been watching your amazing vids since I need to write a paper on the Italian culture. Such a interesting language and culture ^^
L Toti
Trovo interessante simpatico / simpathetic: la parola inglese ha un significato più vicino all'etimologia greca \

But pretendere vuol dire sia fingere che aspettarsi qualcosa ma che cavoloo di traduzioni son mai queste
Sophia Elric
Knowing French and Spanish really helps when you're trying to guess the word's actual meaning. I didn't expect it - should've, really, but I didn't so it was pretty cool!
Sotiria vera
Fabbrica means factory in Russian too
Stephany Fofano
I knew Comprensivo meant Understanding\nso Fabbrica is factory\ncool so Parente is Relative that is similar to the brazilian word for relative also fabric in brazilian would be fabrica
The-Advenger
comunque la parola firm in inglese deriva da firma in veneziano
TheAndrewSchneider
This is fun! I’m actually somebody who translates poetry and opera libretti, so this is useful, and I am attempting to read Italian literature in the original. I also am proficient in Spanish and reasonably so in French. Maybe a fun episode might be false cognates between Spanish and Italian. “Bisogna” vs. “bisoña”; “parecchio” vs. “parejo,” “imbarazzato” vs. “embarazada,” for instance.
Thomas C
Some of these are true cognates with Spanish and Portuguese and since I speak a little of those two languages, I was able to guess a few of these correctly 😃
Tristine Fleming
Brilliant!!

serczykowski
I love false friends, I almost wrote an MA thesis on those. :D They're so fun to trace. Sometimes they just sound similar, but they have different etymology (like English embarrassed and Italian imbarazzo vs. Spanish embarazada which means pregnant, one is from Latin, and Spanish from Arabic via Portuguese). Sometimes they have actually same etymology, but meaning changed along the way (like education is used that way since 17 century, before that it was also about child rising and manners). Yep, very fun topic. :D
slux83
Super cute! Actually I make the same exact mistakes sometimes in English!
